Hartwell House

Weddings

Eighty a year.
Never more.

Each one walks the grounds with us first. Each one gets the same Hartwell. Each one ends with a sleeve of photographs in the family album.

A Day at the House

A typical Saturday
unfolds like this.

10:00 AM

Bridal party arrives. The library and west bedrooms become the staging rooms. Coffee, fruit, quiet.

12:30 PM

Vendors begin loading in. Florals, catering, and rentals each have a designated entry to keep traffic from crossing the lawn.

3:00 PM

First-look photographs in the oak alley or the pavilion. We hold space on the west terrace if weather requires backup.

5:00 PM

Ceremony on the south lawn. Aisle and altar are placed against the original 1908 oak canopy. 90-foot aisle accommodated comfortably.

5:45 PM

Cocktail hour on the west terrace. Bridal party photographs continue around the property; the family escorts as needed.

7:00 PM

Dinner in the ballroom. The room turns over from cocktails to seated dinner in 30 minutes — a feat we have practiced.

9:00 PM

Toasts, dancing, the inevitable line at the bar. The library quiets down for the toasts.

11:00 PM

Last call. Send-off through the oak alley. Vendor strike continues into the early morning.

Seasons

Four ways the house
presents itself.

Spring

April – June

The grounds are at their most generous. Crocus first, then the long lilac wall along the east drive blooms in late May.

Summer

July – August

Full canopy, full warmth, full light past 9 PM. The most photographed weddings happen here. Tent recommended.

Fall

September – October

The most-requested season. Mature oaks turn gold in the second week of October. We book this season eighteen months out.

Winter

December – February

Indoor-only events. The fireplaces are lit. The ballroom holds the warmth.

Investment

Pricing varies by season
and headcount.

We send a complete pricing sheet, available dates, and a vendor primer to every couple after a brief inquiry. We don’t post pricing publicly because the day belongs to your day, not to a price page.
